AHHHH…the Halloween season is upon us. It signals the start of the final 2 months of the year. These last 2 months are jam-packed with holidays, parties, family/friends, late nights and probably a lot of calorie-laden eats and drinks.
As someone who has struggled the majority of her adult life with a sweet tooth that defies logic, you might think that Halloween is the pan-ultimate for me. Candy as far as the eye can see! Candy EVERYWHERE.
Actually, no. My sweet tooth leanings are more towards baked goods. Not any better/worse than candy, it’s just never been my sugar-drug of choice.
The purpose of this article is not to shame you for the choices you make. It’s to help better educate you on how those choices can affect whatever goal you’re striving for. If it’s weight loss or overall health and wellness, then you’ll head into the holiday with a solid understanding of what is hidden inside those little fun-sized bars, and can take appropriate steps to truly enjoy them without guilt.
Before we start though, I want to invite you to join our No Sugar Challenge, starting November 1st. This challenge will run up to Thanksgiving Day, and the focus is on crowding out processed/additive sugars. You’ll celebrate days of success and learn about reading food labels, identifying additive sugar and see a massive improvement in energy and mood after around 7 days. Are you in? Find a location near you to get started!
The title of this article is a bit misleading. Doing 1 burpee for piece of candy is not necessarily equal. The purpose is to let you know HOW many minutes of moderate-intense exercise you would need to do to burn off the extra calories. Are you ready? Let’s go!
Most of the time, you can expect to burn 100 calories per 10 minutes of moderate-intense exercise.

No matter what you choose to indulge in during the Halloween season, make it a non-negotiable to get to Kaia on 10/31 and definitely on 11/1. Throw out the candy that is leftover in your house. If it’s not good for you, then it’s not good for anyone else either.
