Back to school? Now we can get back to YOU! This time of year the kids are headed back to school. Our summertime schedules begin to become more routine. We can begin to focus more on consistent actions to make the changes in our lives we want to see with a routine! Here are our tips for creating a routine to take care of yourself.
Morning Rituals
We hear from all sorts of successful people that they credit their success partially to their morning routine. Waking and meditating, taking Kaia classes, nourishment, hydration – warm ginger lemon water.
How you start your day is important and sets the tone for the rest of your day.
Top 3-5
What are the most important things you need to get done (at work, in your personal life, and in your family life). And the top 3-5 things are not small tasks, these top 3-5 are things to further your goals – personal and business. From having dinner with your husband or a girlfriend for personal connections to your weekly workout goal to a step that will further your career or business.
Make a plan. Plan out what you need to do for the week that is most important and schedule it in your calendar to make it REAL. Schedule all the Kaia classes you will take this week in the app. It will help to remind you of your classes and be a source of accountability.
Where in your routine do you find yourself stumbling?
Do you struggle to find time to workout? Do you find that each day at a certain time you indulge in a habit that is not serving you in a positive manner? (Do you plop on the couch in front of the TV when you get home?)
These areas deserve special attention and focus to change. The best way to change it is to replace it with a better habit. Go on a quick walk after work to de-stress before you make a yummy healthy light dinner.
Are you struggling with healthy food? Plan out your meals and put a plan in place for your week to help you keep with eating healthier.
Take Breaks
Especially if you sit at a desk job all day, get up regularly to move your body and empty your mind a little. Letting our minds have a break actually makes us more productive and improves our concentration. After an hour of focused work, it’s good to switch tasks. More and more research is being done on how our brains work best and taking breaks have been a big finding. It’s important to refresh, stretch, bring your attention to something new and then head back to work.
Working out with the girls in your Kaia class help release all the tension from your body from sitting all day. Your workout will release those endorphins and give you added energy and happy feels for the rest of your day. Working out helps to clear your mind too and you might even experience the side effect – better FOCUS!
Wrap up your day
Clear your desk of clutter at the end of the day. That way you start each day clear headed with a clear workspace. Do the same at home. Spend 10 minutes picking up around the house before you head off to bed. You’ll be happy to your morning self when the dishes are done and the clutter is picked up.
Remember getting good at your routine takes time. Now that the kids are back in school, it helps get us back in a routine that we lost during the summer. Even if you don’t get your daily routine exactly how you want it to be right now, keep on going and each day work on your routine.
